I remember when we were just children and even just as we started primary school, we would be taught how to say and spell ‘rhododendron’ in English and ‘laligurans’ in Nepalese as it was the name of our national flower.
Having had seen only pictures of a single flower in text books until that day, to have such a visual feast of hills and forests blanketed with the pink blush of rhododendron as far as the eye could see, was definitely a key part of my Nepal trip.
No picture of it ever compared to what I saw with my eyes and the way it moved me.
Location: Annapurna Circuit Trek (to Ghorepani).
